Tim Ward
Nationality: United Kingdom
Residence: Greece
Biography: Tim Ward's primary interest is in the use of computer technology in the composition and performance of music.

His compositional activities centre around three areas : acousmatic music, the use of live electronics alongside acoustic instruments and computer controlled sonic installations. His performance activities concentrate on sound diffusion techniques for the performance of electroacoustic music, and the recreation of early works involving live electronics using newly available technology.

Tim studied music at BA, MA levels at the University of York, UK, and worked as a lecturer at various UK universities. He was a founder member of the electroacoustic performance group Nerve8.

Program Notes: Overture is a short electroacoustic overture, looking to imitate some of the panache of its operatic relatives. A broad spectrum of sonic materials are tersely introduced, colliding in closely packed rhythmic patterns. The rate of musical change is high, and by the end the listener is left waiting for the start of a following work, where the musical relationships so briefly seen promise to develop over a slower timescale.
