Biography: Charlotte White is currently completing her BA Hons in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University, England. She has been working with sound for around two years now and has had her works performed at various venues both in the UK and abroad, including the Maxis Festival, 2002 and 2003 (www.maxis.org.uk), Ear-popping sounds in Germany (www.niehusmann.org/ear-popping-sounds.html) and at the Pi[4] event in Poole (www.boredomresearch.net/pi/index.html). She has recently been awarded a Your-Shout Millenium Award for which she has written a musical composition.
Program Notes: Hampshire Sounds ..ok is a community arts project, funded by a Your-Shout Millenium Award. Residents of Hampshire were invited to nominate sounds that they hear in their environment. I then recorded these sounds, taking photographs from the sound source. These sounds became an electro-acoustic composition for wind band and sampled sounds.
