Biography: Jack Hooker (b. 1990) is a Wellington-based composer/performer of electroacoustic and instrumental music. He is interested in creating sound worlds which, utilizing physical / recognizable sound sources, present abstracted versions of reality. Jack is heavily influenced by contemporary noise and drone music, and as such is interested in the physical dimension of intensely loud sound. Outside of the electroacoustic world, he is a member of the contemporary music groupSMP Ensemble, two Gamelan ensembles, a number of local drone acts and performs regularly as a solo acoustic guitarist.
